Acer Predator Helios 300 (17-inch, PH317-51) uses an aggressive type of PWM

Acer’s 17-inch version of the Predator Helios 300 surprised us with an excellent IPS panel suitable for gaming and multimedia – something that the 15-inch version of the notebook lacks. Unfortunately, though, there’s a big drawback to be considered here.

According to our equipment, the screen uses low-frequency PWM (1 kHz) from 0 to 99% brightness and can be considered as “aggressive”. As we all know, the higher the frequency, the better. If you are looking for a notebook with better PWM rating, however, we suggest looking into our PWM ranking.

Or you can just install our Health-Guard profile, which not only eliminates PWM but also limits the negative blue light emissions.
