Inside ASUS ZenBook 14 UM431 – disassembly and upgrade options

The ZenBook 14 UM431 is a slightly different effort from what we’re used to seeing from ASUS. It features AMD’s latest Ryzen 3000U series processors and their respective integrated graphics solutions.

1. Remove the bottom plate

Thankfully, this ZenBook also lacks the signature hidden screws we all hated on these devices. Instead, it only has 7 Torx-head screws that hold the motherboard in place. After you unscrew them you only need to pry the panel off with a plastic tool and you are good to go.

2. Battery

There is a 47Wh battery unit inside of this machine. It has six Phillips-head screws, securing it in place. If you want to make any changes to your laptop’s hardware – disconnect the battery first.

3. Memory and storage

Sadly, you won’t be able to upgrade the memory of this laptop as all of the RAM modules are soldered to the motherboard. On the bright side – there is the M.2 PCIe SSD, that is at your disposal.

4. Cooling system

Similarly to the ZenBook 14 UX434 – this laptop has a rather large fan and a thin heat pipe.
