日本ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA607 (2024) review – This Budget Gaming Laptop Packs a Surprise
Design and construction
When it comes to design, the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA607 (2024) isn’t that different compared to some of its 2023 siblings like the TUF Gaming A15 (FA507, 2023). The Mecha Grey variants have an embossed TUF logo while you get laser engraved TUF insignia with the notebooks in Jaeger Gray color. The lid is made of metal while the rest is plastic. On the bright side, the rigidity is good with a few exceptions here and there. The lid can be flexed but not too much and the base can be slightly pressed down in the zones below the status indicators and the area above the touchpad.
The lid can be opened with one hand and there is a protrusion on the top to ease the whole process. This notebook stops the scales at 2.27 kg and has a profile thickness of 22.1 – 28.2 mm. It’s not among the thinnest devices in its class but it has a sizable cooling solution with five heat pipes and four heat sinks which takes more space.
Yep, the bezels around the 16:10 display are thin and that’s why the laptop looks up-to-date. The “hump” above the panel houses a 720p Web camera.
The keyboard glows in a single color but you can tune the backlight and its effect via the ASUS software.
The Power button is separated from the keyboard. Next to it, we can see a ventilation grill followed by a row of four keys for sound control plus a shortcut to the Armoury Crate app. The full-sized keyboard with NumPad is comfortable and quiet during typing. It has big keycaps with great key travel and clicky feedback. The half-sized Arrow keys are the only con in this section.
The touchpad is decently sized (128.9 x 76 mm), and it’s also very smooth and accurate. On the other side, the clicks are a bit noisy.
Five rubber feet, two speaker cutouts, and many ventilation grills can be seen on the bottom panel. The heat is pushed through four vents – two on the back and two on the sides.
Ports
On the left, we can see a power plug, LAN, HDMI 2.1 FRL, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports (the former supports DisplayPort 1.4 and the latter offers the same functionality plus charging capabilities (20V / 5A), a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an Audio combo jack. On the right, we can spot a Kensington lock slot and another USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port.
Can you tell me abit more regarding the Hinges’ durability? Do you think that ASUS TUF’s “military grade” laptop hinges are better than other budget laptop such as Acer Nitro, HP Victus, and MSI GF63? I’m really curious about how they compare. Thank you very much in advance!

The laptops we review are brand new from an online store. Although we haven’t encountered problems with their hinges, we can’t guarantee long-term reliability.
Overall, we’re satisfied with the build quality of ASUS laptops; it’s clear they’ve put considerable thought into it.
Can i know which model info of this TUF A16 that use 7945hx?
because when i referred to this link https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-a16-2024/techspec/ it says that there only available with 7845hx and 7940hx?
