Dell Latitude 14 5431 review – the more power is worth it

Disassembly, Upgrade options, and Maintenance

To open this device, you need to undo a total of 8 captive Phillips-head screws. Then, pry the bottom panel with a plastic tool, starting from the hinge gaps.

Inside, we see a 64Wh battery. It lasts for more than 13 hours of Web browsing, or about 9 hours of video playback. To take it out, unplug the battery connector, and undo the two Phillips-head screws that stand in your way.

Thankfully, there are two SODIMM slots, which work in dual-channel mode, and fit up to 64GB of DDR5 memory in total. On the storage side, there is only one slot. It fits M.2 PCIe x4 Gen 4 SSDs.

The cooling comprises one thick and one thin heat pipe. They both connect to a heat sink, where the fan blows the heat away from the chassis. Furthermore, you get several heat spreaders for the VRMs.
