HP ProBook 450 G10 review – only a refresh but still one of the best

Verdict

The HP ProBook 450 G10 still remains one of the best office-grade laptops you can get. Its configuration options are almost limitless with a variety of processors, memory and storage availability, and even a “gaming” GPU.

Add to that the numerous displays you can choose from, as well as the LTE option, plus the IR face recognition scanner, and the fingerprint reader which come to selected models.

Ultimately, the core that you can build this machine upon is really good. Its cooling is not the best, but it is really quiet and prioritizes comfort while delivering a decent amount of performance.

HP ProBook 450 G10’s IPS panel in the configuration we got has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, which means you can use the laptop for long periods at a time with your eyes and brain being safe in this aspect. Unfortunately, the device only covers 54% of the sRGB color gamut.

In addition to all of the things we mentioned, there is the port selection. You have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as a LAN port, HDMI 2.1 (likely to be a 2.0b in disguise), and two fast USB Type-As.

We can’t miss the opportunity to praise the spill-resistant keyboard for its decent key travel and clicky feedback. Unfortunately, there is one thing that we would have wanted to see, and it is a MicroSD card slot.

Also, the battery won’t really last you a busy workday, which is petty. It is not too short – we got around 8 hours and a half of Web browsing on a single charge or the equivalent of 7 hours and 30 minutes of video playback. You see, it is levitating around the 8-hour mark, and this is pretty much one of the lightest loads you can throw at it.

Anyways, one of the things you should really take advantage of if you are often in conference calls is the 5MP IR Web camera combo. With that said, we leave the purchase decision to you. In our view, it is worth it, but you have to decide by yourself if the compromises are not too much.
