[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 3 5300U vs Intel Core i3-1115G4 – Despite using an older architecture, the Ryzen 3 shines

The laptop CPU space is becoming quite competitive. While Intel had the reigns on the market, AMD has quickly swooped in and taken a decent chunk of Intel’s share, as it honestly offers better and less expensive hardware. In the past, Intel was judge, jury, and executioner, and had the ability to markup prices as high as they wanted, as there was a lack of competition.

This changed with the Zen architecture, which revamped the whole AMD CPU sheet, bringing affordability and performance, lighting a fire under Intel. Now they, are on the back foot and have to find a way to survive the onslaught of Team Red.

For today we have the Ryzen 3 5300U which will go against the Core i3-1115G4, in fierce comparison, that will stretch to iGPU and Gaming tests.

CPU benchmarks

911, we are reporting a murder. This is what happened in the 3D Rendering benchmark with Cinebench 20, where the Ryzen totally outperformed its opponent, having a 63% lead. In the Photoshop test, the Ryzen was better again, this time with a smaller lead of nearly 2 seconds.

GPU benchmarks

The RX Vega 6 proved to be better in all tests, both artificial and real-life gaming. Starting with the benchmarks, the AMD GPU had a 40%, 33%, and 35% higher score in 3DMark Fire Strike, Unigine Heaven 4.0, and Unigine Superposition, respectively. In the gaming test, the AMD unit had a 50% higher fps in CS:GO on average and 37% higher fps in DOTA 2 on average.

Conclusion

The AMD processor is definitely better, but that was to be expected. After all, it has double the cores and threads of its opponent. Also, you have to keep in mind that laptops with the Core i3 are much less expensive, with prices starting at around US$170, which is very affordable. On the other hand, laptops with the Ryzen 3 5300U start at around US$525, which is quite steeper. In the end, if you want an affordable daily driver with decent power, the Core i3-1115G4 is a very good option.

2 vs 4, whats new. from all tiger lake U, pentium is good because its the same as i3 for less money and AMD has no modern sku’s a this price point, i5 can be useful in some cases, and i7 is an absolute disgrace. worst value ever.
