NVIDIA GeForce MX130 vs NVIDIA GeForce MX150 – benchmarks and gaming tests
NVIDIA’s GeForce MX130 is another budget-friendly solution incorporated in many new ultra-portable or budget mainstream laptops. For the purposes of today’s comparison, we have decided to put it side by side with company’s entry-level dedicated GPU – the NVIDIA GeForce MX150.

Specs overview
A quick run through the specs of the NVIDIA GeForce MX130 reveals 384 shader cores, 24 TMUs, and 8 ROPs. Manufactured through a 28 nm process, the graphics card is based on the Maxwell architecture and supports DirectX 12.0. Moreover, it is equipped with 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory connected using a 64-bit memory bus. NVIDIA GeForce MX130 is running at a base frequency of 1122 MHz, which can reach 1242 MHz. Also, the TDP is rated at 30W.
Moving on to its rival – the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 is part of the Pascal lineup of GPUs with a total of 384 shader (CUDA) cores, 24 TMUs, and 8 ROPs. Built on a 14nm manufacturing process, it also offers support for DirectX 12_1. In addition, the GPU operates at a relatively high base frequency of 1469 MHz, while the Boost frequencies reach up to 1532 MHz. Other specs include 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 64-bit interface, as well as relatively low TDP of 25W.

In the graph above you can see an approximate comparison between the two GPUs that can be found in Acer Aspire 5 and Dell Inspiron 7773 respectively. Judging by the results from our benchmark tests, NVIDIA GeForce MX150 outperforms the MX130 with 44% when it comes to the Fire Strike (Graphics) benchmark. It also delivers better performance in our Unigine Heaven 3.0 and 4.0 tests (6-25% better). On top of all this, MX150 surpasses its opponent with around 8% as far as the Unigine Superposition benchmark is concerned.
