Quick look at Meizu Pro 6 – first impressions, camera, performance

It was only a couple of days ago that Meizu Pro 6 entered our office, which means that we are currently performing our tests and working on a detailed review. Before this, however, we’ve prepared an article with our first impressions  to satisfy the more impatient viewers. If you are interested in this smartphone, you can check its price and availability here: http://amzn.to/2dTIoFk

Firstly, this phone’s design is quite similar to that of the last Apple iPhone, and we are again presented with a metal unibody construction with familiarly rounded edges and very thin profile of 7.3 mm. All this, combined with the thin screen bezels, makes one-handed operation very comfortable, irrespective of its 5.2-inch display size. Additionally, the surface does not attract a lot of fingerprints but it’s also slightly slippery, so keep that in mind.

Meizu has added a single hardware Home button, and if you touch it, it carries you one step back, and if you press it – you go back to the main menu. In addition, the multitasking button has been replaced with a swipe up. The Home button also has a fingerprint scanner incorporated in it!

This model’s OS is Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is accompanied by the Flyme UI. The latter brings a number of changes both in terms of functions and of design. For example, there is no internal menu but the settings menu has a lot of options for easier operation. All of these shall be touched upon in the coming review.

Meizu Pro 6 offers a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 х 1080 p) display. This, of course, means high image detail. We can also add that you will be presented with contrasty and vibrant colors because of the Super AMOLED panel. Additionally, the display settings menu offers a number of modes, one of which is for blue light reduction. We have yet to test them out for our detailed review. Last but not least, this smartphone’s display also boasts the 3D Press technology, which is something like Apple’s 3D touch. It registers the pressure applied when you touch the screen and thus ensures additional features.

Another component that we can’t wait to test is the mobile chip. We are talking about the 10-core MediaTek Helio X25. It features four Cortex-A53 cores ticking at 1.4 GHz, another four Cortex-A53 cores at 2.00 GHz plus two Cortex-A72 cores ticking up to 2.5 GHz. The very first benchmarks we did show promising results. The left screenshot displays the Geekbench 3 test, and the right one 3DMark Ice Unlimited.

We should also touch upon the 21MP camera that comes with 10 small LED flashes. Its menu features various camera modes including the Pro mode, which ensures a number of photographic settings. What’s more, you can record 4K and slow-mo videos. We would like to present to your attention the first test shots we took with this phone.

We need more real test and less ”previews” and ”quick looks”. The specs can be seen in numerous places. 🙂
