[Comparison] Intel Core i7-1280P vs AMD Ryzen 7 5800U – clash of the ULV champions
Did you know, that the 11th Gen Tiger Lake U-series’ power limit went as high as 28W? Now, the new Alder Lake U-series goes as high as 15W, with anything more being separated between the H-series and the new P-series, which we have represented today.
We have gotten the best P-series chip of them all, the Core i7-1280P, which comes with 14 cores, 20 threads, and a boost speed of nearly 5.00GHz, which will surely be enough for anyone, especially in a laptop. Going against it is a true veteran in the ULV space. The Ryzen 7 5800U, despite its 15W TDP, has fared well enough to be the best performing U-series CPU that we have.
But will that change today? Stay tuned as we compare the Intel Core i7-1280P against the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U.

Conclusion
It’s clear that Alder Lake improved a lot, but to be fair, still haven’t seen anything from AMD’s 6000U-series, which is supposed to bring insane battery life and unprecedented GPU performance. It’s totally normal for a new CPU to dominate over last year’s best, but still, the improvements are pretty massive. Intel fought with all of its might to reclaim its competitiveness in the market, and even dominate it, but that might not be for long, since Team Red surely won’t go down without a proper fight.
