Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2022) – Top 5 Pros and Cons

Usually, convertibles come in smaller form factors, like 13.3-inch laptops. However, here is a device with a slightly larger footprint, which also brings quality display options, and Alder Lake P-series hardware, which so far has always delivered. The Yoga 7i from Lenovo has a radical change in style, complemented by a 2.2K IPS display that more than delivers on the Creator aspect.

Today we present you with LaptopMedia’s top 5 picks about the Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2022).

Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2022): Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2022)

1. Design and build quality

The new design of the device is polarizing, to say the least, but the roundness is growing on us. When the laptop is closed, it somewhat looks like Frankenstein’s monster, especially with the reverse notch on the top bezel, which is very angular, to contrast the round body of the device. In terms of quality and execution of the build, we can’t as for more, as the aluminum chassis is very tough, resulting in next to no flex from the chassis. It also keeps the weight in check, stopping the scales at 1.45 kg, while sporting a profile of 17.35 mm.

2. Display quality

The display is a visual treat, as with the 14-inch diagonal and the 2.2K resolution, we get a pretty decent pixel density. The panel has comfortable viewing angles, a peak brightness of 332 nits, and a 1700:1 contrast ratio. The Creator-related capabilities are amazing, with 97% sRGB coverage.

The panel gets good accuracy even without our Design and Gaming profile to calibrate it, reaching a dE value of 1.9. With our profile, it goes down to 1.1, which is even better. Here are the results of our test with the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Buy our profiles

Praca biurowa

Projektowanie i gry

Health-Guard

3. Battery life

The laptop has a very large 71Wh battery unit, that lasts for 10 hours and 50 minutes of Web browsing, or 9 hours and 5 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

4. I/O

The port selection is pretty good considering the small stature of the notebook, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, a MicroSD card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port, which can output up to an 8K 60Hz signal, or a more usable 4K 120Hz signal, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

1 reason NOT to buy the Lenovo Yoga 7i (14″, 2022)

1. Upgradeability

Lastly, since the components are neatly packed on the inside, Lenovo decided that there’s no space for RAM slots, and soldered the memory directly to the board. On the bright side, you are getting LPDDR5 RAM that runs at 4800MHz. Storage-wise, you get one M.2 slot that fits Gen 4 drives.

Here is our teardown video, which shows how to access the insides.
