1. The keyboard

The keyboard of the Dell Inspiron 5593 is good for long typing sessions because it has long key travel and clicky feedback. There is a NumberPad section too.

2. The I/O

For that kind of price tag, the port selection looks fine. On the left side, we have an optional USB Type-C 3.1 (Gen. 1), an HDMI connector, an RJ-45 connector, two USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 1) ports, and an audio jack. On the right – a USB Type-A 2.0 port and an SD card reader.

3. Upgradability

The upgradability is (again) more than ok for a device in this price range – two RAM DIMMs and the max supported memory size is 16GB DDR4 RAM (up to 3200MHz). There is a 2.5″ SATA drive slot and an M.2 slot too.

1. Battery life

Nothing special about battery life – just a bit over 5 hours for Web browsing and videos.

2. Not-so-cool

Our test device is equipped with Intel Core i5-1035G1 and NVIDIA GeForce MX230. This combo doesn’t dissipate much heat but the hot air that is blown away by the inside fans heats up the entire keyboard – not very comfortable if you have to use this laptop for a whole day. On top of that, the noise levels under load are on the high side.
