How to open MSI Summit E13 AI Evo A1M – disassembly and upgrade options


    Opening the Device

    1. Undo the 4 Phillips-head screws securing the bottom panel. Note that two of these screws are hidden beneath the back rubber feet, which need to be unglued first.
    2. Lift the top two corners with a thin plastic tool.
    3. Pry the sides and the front of the panel, leaving the rear for last.

    Battery Removal

    1. Pull out the battery connector from the mainboard.
    2. Undo the 5 Phillips-head screws securing the battery.
    3. Unglue the motherboard’s battery.
    4. Slide the 70Wh battery to the right and carefully untangle the speaker cables on the left to remove the battery from the device.

    Note: The device uses a 70Wh battery, providing approximately 14 hours of video playback.


    Memory Information

    Note: The RAM is soldered. The device can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5-5600MHz memory. The Wi-Fi card is also soldered.

    Storage Upgrade

    1. Locate the single M.2 slot for 2280 Gen 4 SSDs.
    2. Remove the foil covering the preinstalled SSD.
    3. Remove the SSD and the super thin thermal pad beneath it.
    4. Install the new SSD in the slot.

    Cooling System Overview

    1. The cooling system includes a pair of fans, two heat pipes, one long top-mounted heat sink, and a heat spreader.
    2. Ensure all cooling components are clean and free of dust for optimal performance.
