Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Apple iPhone 6s – camera comparison

One of the strongest suits of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 is arguably the camera. The phone has a 12MP rear shooter with larger pixels (1.4 µm) than its predecessor and f/1.7 aperture capable of taking incredible shots in low-light conditions. The usual fast autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording features are present again, of course. Furthermore, the camera menu packs a wide variety of shooting modes and manual settings to help you take even better photos.

Anyway, as any other top-tier smartphone, Apple’s iPhone 6s also sports a very impressive camera with 12MP sensor, but the pixel size is 1.042 µm and the aperture – f/2.2. The phone is also capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. Since we didn’t want to just compare the specs, we’ve attached a couple of sample shots we took with both devices so you can decide for yourself which is better.

Photo comparison

We’ve prepared a couple of sample shots taken under various light conditions. The photos on the left are taken with Samsung’s Galaxy S7, while those on the right are from the iPhone 6s.

Low-light environment

The darker it got, the better the photos taken with the Galaxy S7 began to appear, compared to those of the iPhone.

Night-time photos

Well, it’s night now and Galaxy S7’s f/1.7 camera shows its true colors. It’s obvious to see which model is better suited for night-time photography.

Indoor photos

The Galaxy S7 performed great, even in indoor conditions. However, we can clearly see that the automatic white balance setting needs a bit tweaking, since the results could’ve been so much better.
