ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED (K3500): Full Specs / In-depth Review

3 reasons to BUY the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED (K3500)

1. Design and build quality

Contrasting other Vivobooks, this one doesn’t come entirely made out of metal. There is an aluminum lid and a plastic chassis that is surprisingly more durable than the lid. Regardless, no one tries to bend his own laptop on purpose, so as long as you handle it with care, as you should, you will be fine. The design is simplistic, with only two colors, sharp edges, and rounded corners. Branding-wise, there is a Vivobook logo on the back, in the form of an embossed plaque. In terms of dimensions, the laptop is quite portable, weighing only 1.65 kg and having a profile of 19.9 mm.

2. Display quality

The 15.6-inch Full HD OLED panel comes with comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of 407 nits, and good brightness uniformity across the whole display area, ensuring even color representation. In terms of coverage, the display fully covers both the sRGB and the DCI-P3 gamuts.

However, the OLED panel doesn’t sport the best accuracy. The lowest that we could get it was using a D65 white point in the DCI-P3 color space, along with pairing it with our Design and Gaming profile.

Kontorsarbete

3. Performance

CPU benchmarks

While the laptop does come with Tiger Lake H35 processors, it does a good job at harnessing the performance and not having its Core i5-11300H be a dud. Here are results from benchmarks showing the performance of the CPU against other competitors.

GPU benchmarks

The RTX 3050 inside might have a TGP of only 50W, but it can handle its fair share of gaming. What’s more is that it can also speed up your video editing, especially when working in tandem with the onboard integrated graphics, using Quick Sync.

2 reasons NOT to buy the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED (K3500)

1. I/O

There is an issue with the USB ports, as two of them run at only 2.0 speeds. While this is an issue for file transfer, you can just leave these ports for peripherals, like your mouse or a USB headset. The rest of the I/O includes one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, a Thunderbolt 4 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

2. Upgradeability

The upgradeability is close to being non-existent, with no RAM slots, and only a single M.2 PCIe x4 slot.

Here is our teardown video, which shows how to access the single SSD slot.
