HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000) – Top 5 Pros and Cons

Convertibles often come with slim and portable chassis, while having hardware that can be well-accommodated, mainly a ULV CPU with a lower power limit.

However, today we have the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000), which throws the rulebook out of the window, offering up to a Core i7-12700H, along with options for both integrated and discrete graphics, as the Intel Arc A370M tries to establish itself as a good entry-level GPU.

Today we present you with LaptopMedia’s top 5 picks about the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000).

HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000): Full Specs / In-depth Review

reasons to BUY the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000)

1. Design and build quality

The Spectre series is known for its design, including putting some of the I/O on the chopped-off corners on the back. We have an aluminium lid and chassis, along with a very cool navy blue finish. In terms of dimensions, the thing comes with a weight of 2.01 kg, while with a profile of 19.9 mm, it feels thin. What makes it feel thinner are the sloping rounded edges, so holding the device is an easy job. Durability is good, as the lid opens with one hand, while not showing any noticeable flex. The display is also covered by Gorilla Glass NBT which adds extra scratch resistance.

2. Input devices

On the base, we have a large keyboard, however, the NumPad is still missing. What you get for compensation are two speaker grills on the left and right. The board has long key travel and clicky feedback, which provide an excellent typing experience. The touchpad has a silver trim around it, while the surface that it provides is both smooth and accurate.

3. Display quality

There are two display options to pick from, including a 3K IPS panel and a 4K OLED panel, which gives us a 16:10 aspect ratio. We tested the IPS display, which reaches a peak brightness of 400 nits and covers 98% of the sRGB colour gamut.

In terms of accuracy, our Design and Gaming profile manages to work very well, lowering the dE value of the panel down to 1.5. Here are the results of our test with both the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Kontorsarbete

4. Battery life

With a battery capacity of 83Wh, the laptop lasts for 12 hours and 47 minutes of Web browsing, or 9 hours and 53 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

1 reason NOT to buy the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000)

1. Upgradeability

The upgradeability of the Spectre suffers a bit, despite the large form factor, as you get up to 32GB of soldered DDR4 memory. As for storage, there’s one M.2 slot for Gen 4 SSDs.

Here is our detailed teardown video, which shows how to access the single storage slot of the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000).
