Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6: Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6

1. Design and build quality

Being a ThinkPad, you get a very durable aluminum body that has a rigid structure on both the base and the lid. Both of them have that cool-to-the-touch feeling, which is synonymous with metal bodies. The laptop prides itself with sharp edges, rounded corners, and both Lenovo and ThinkPad X1 branding. In terms of weight and height, the device weighs 1.40 kg and has a profile of 15.0 mm.

The lid opens easily with one hand, showing off its keyboard, touchpad, and two front-firing speakers, which are part of a quad-stereo setup. The keyboard has long key travel and clicky feedback. Another bonus is the large keycaps, with even the arrow keys being well-sized. The touchpad has a glass cover which offers an amazing experience both when it comes to the gliding and the tracking. We also see a red TrackPoint, accompanied by three physical buttons.

2. Battery life

The 57Wh battery unit lasts for 15 hours of Web browsing, or 11 hours and 20 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

3. Display quality

The laptop offers two 14-inch IPS displays with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The base model comes with an FHD+ display, while a 4K UHD+ panel is also available. We tested the FHD+ panel and it had comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of  360 nits in the middle of the screen, 338 nits average across the surface with a maximum deviation of 12%. The display covers 98% of the sRGB color gamut.

The color accuracy is matching for a premium laptop like this one if you apply our Design and Gaming profile, which brings down the dE value from 5.7 to 1.4, which makes it perfect for color-sensitive work.

Kontorsarbete

4. Features

Starting with the display features, you get touch support, along with stylus support. The laptop offers a stylus with its own enclosure, meaning that you can express your creativity everywhere.

Continuing on with the I/O, it has decent coverage with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a NanoSIM slot.

1 reason NOT to buy the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6

1. Upgradeability

The only caveat with it, is the lack of upgradeability, with all of the RAM being soldered onto the motherboard. On the bright side, you can equip the device with up to 32GB of LPDDR4x memory running in quad-channel mode. For storage, there is a single M.2 PCIe x4 slot.

Here is our detailed teardown video, which shows how to get access to the inside, including the SSD slot.
