How to open HP Spectre x360 16 (16-aa0000) – disassembly and upgrade options


Step 1: Opening the HP Spectre x360 16 (16-aa0000)

  1. Ensure the HP Spectre x360 16 is powered off and placed on a protective surface to avoid scratches.
  2. Remove the four Torx-head screws located at the bottom of the laptop.
  3. Use a lever tool around the hinge areas to gently lift the bottom panel, then use a plastic pry tool to detach the rear, sides, and front of the panel.


Step 2: Battery Removal

  1. Disconnect the 83Wh battery by detaching its connector from the motherboard.
  2. Remove the eight Philips head screws and carefully take the battery out of its compartment.

  1. Identify the single M.2 slot designated for a 2280 Gen 4 SSD, which is underneath a metal plate secured by two Philips head screws.
