MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo (A13M) review – hunting for Yogas

The presence of convertible laptops around us is slowly becoming a common thing. You can spot these kinds of machines almost everywhere – people are using them in the park, in the office, at home, on vacation, etc. In the last few years, Lenovo is one of the manufacturers that is offering tons of convertibles under the “Yoga” sub-brand.

It looks like MSI is trying to get a piece of the pie as well (ergo, a bigger market share when it comes to 2-in-1 notebooks). The company has released a premium device with transforming capabilities that is called MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo (A13M). This is a 14-incher with a high-resolution touchscreen display (option), a powerful Intel Raptor Lake P processor, and the laptop is based on the Intel Evo platform.

This means (or at least on paper) snappy performance, fast boot times, many sensors, quality display, high-end connectivity, thin body, good battery life, etc. Sounds good but we’ll see if that is all true in a minute. A Raptor Lake chip in a thin and light notebook like the one here is a real challenge for the cooling system. MSI has decided to use a potent CPU in order to boost the performance of the notebook but we are curious to check the battery life because these processors are also thirsty.

The MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo (A13M) seems like a convertible on steroids that is trying to prove that it can deal with competitors like Lenovo Yoga 9 (14″, 2023). Okay, enough chit-chat, let’s benchmark this little MSI beast.

    Thanks for the review!

From the look of the hinge design and the vents location, I assume this laptop disperses warm/hot air directly on to the display?

Did you notice if that was much of an issue?

    Cheers

i7-1360P has Iris Xe with 96EUs.
The graphics score in Time Spy is an Iris Xe with 96EUs, the versions with 80EUs don’t reach that mark.
In the GPUz image it shows 80EUs…
    Something very strange is happening…
