Best gaming notebooks under $1100 (November 2017)

Black Friday may be over but the holiday season is just starting out. In the following month, you will stumble upon many great deals and we would like to make it easier for you.

This list will contain some of the best gaming notebooks under $1100 currently available on the market. If you want to step things a notch you can check out our up to $1600 list or if you are on a really tight budget we have you covered with the up to $800 list.

Note that the prices and availability change from day to day and sometimes even more frequently than that so the information we display might not be 100% accurate. We try to keep up and update daily.

You can check the detailed specs of the following and other notebooks in our Laptops Specs system.

Acer Predator Helios 300

Without a doubt, the Acer Predator Helios 300 deserves to be on this list. Since its initial release, it has gathered the attention with its appealing price and powerful hardware. For a period of time, it was one of the only notebooks to feature the upper mid-range GeForce GTX 1060 GPU at the given price.

Now, when prices have fallen and discounts are all around, the Helios 300 is as appealing as ever featuring the Core i7-7700HQ and GTX 1060 for just around $1000. We have to note that the GTX 1060 inside is the version with 6GB of memory and not just 3GB.

The Helios 300 has a Full HD (1920 x 1080p) flicker-free display with high contrast. We offer you our custom-tailored display profiles to enhance the viewing experience.

MSI GT62VR DOMINATOR

To get into the under $1100 list, the MSI GT62VR DOMINATOR has been heavily discounted. It is an older model powered by a 6th generation Core i7-6700HQ but that does not mean it is not still worth your while.

The configuration features the GTX 1060 6GB version and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. It might be an older model but it still has a lot to offer. Being an MSI product, you get a lot of exclusive features that you can’t find in other brands. For instance, the Nahimic 2 audio system that creates a virtual 7.1 surround sound experience or let’s not forget the SteelSeries programmable keyboard.

This particular model also comes with an intriguing battery. We have not tested it for ourselves but it seems like it would deliver above average run times as it is large in capacity – 75.24Wh but most importantly it has eight whole cells.

Asus ROG GL502VM

Next up is the Asus ROG GL502VM. This fellow is again powered by the 7th gen Core i7-7700HQ but the version of the GTX 1060 GPU that it offers is the 3GB one, however, this does not necessarily make it less powerful although the 6GB model is more preferable.

The ROG GL502VM can stand out with its screen. It offers a bright, high contrast 1080p IPS panel with a high level or color reproductivity (88% of the sRGB color gamut). It also supports NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology to provide buttery-smooth gameplay even in fast-paced titles. Unfortunately, PWM is used for regulating the brightness but the frequency used is very high (20.7kHz) which decreases the negative effect. You can check out our custom-tailored display profiles too.

The ROG GL502VM also offers some other goodies such as a Thunderbolt 3 port and lightweight chassis – 2.20 kg (4.9 lbs)

Dell Inspiron 15 7577

Fourth on our list is the Dell Inspiron 15 7577. It is the first model to make it to the list with a Core i5 processor, however, the powerful Core i5-7300HQ. Fortunately, it also offers the full 6GB version of the GTX 1060 so gaming on it won’t be a hassle.

The Inspiron 15 7577 can shine with its great battery life. We have tested it, though a different configuration with the Core i7-7700HQ and the result were amazing – about 10 hours of web browsing and more than 7 hours of video playback. You can check out our in-depth review for further details.

The display of the Inspiron 15 7577 can’t boast with good color reproduction or high brightness levels but it offers very high contrast and it is absolutely flicker-free making it suitable for long hours of use. Our custom-tailored display profiles can only improve the quality.

HP OMEN 15

Second to last is the HP OMEN 15. The OMEN 15 is one step behind the aforementioned models because of the GPU it offers. Instead of the GTX 1060, you get a GTX 1050 Ti with the OMEN 15. However, the GTX 1050 Ti is still a powerful graphics chip and you can see in the gaming section of our detailed review that the notebook is perfectly capable of running AAA titles.

The OMEN 15 might not have some of the more premium features of the other models on the list but it is built with care. During our stress test (100% CPU and GPU load) it kept extraordinary cool with temperatures barely topping 80 °C. We do not see such a good cooling system every day especially in a notebook as light as 2.24 kg (4.9 lbs).

You also get a rather big 61.5Wh battery that can power the laptop for more than five hours.
