Lenovo’s solution to the Yoga “ghost touches” problem
Recently, we showed you an annoying touchscreen problem we stumbled upon while testing Lenovo’s latest Yoga – from time to time (once or twice a day) the notebook starts registering clicks on its own, in random positions. At first, we thought that it’s a hardware-related issue (faulty digitizer, maybe?).
We found more users that are experiencing this kind of problem and, of course, we contacted Lenovo. According to the manufacturer, it’s a software bug which could be resolved by calibrating the display.
The engineering sample of Yoga 3 we had is no longer in our office, but if you have the same problem, you can try to calibrate your machine. Don’t forget to share the result with us in the comment section! Also, If you have any questions, we’ll do our best to help.
In the meantime, you might want to read our in-depth review of Lenovo Yoga 3.

Lenovo is the most popular brand in the world. It provides the best quality technical products. You can simply solve the ghost touches by using the latest version of the Operating System.
Random hits occur during calibration and prevent it from working.
So here we are in 2018 and my X1 Yoga laptop that I’ve had for over a year just started exhibiting this behavior. I get phantom touches every 2-3 seconds so needless to say I can’t get anything done. I was able to use the pen and disable the touch screen driver. I don’t have an LG panel any help is appreciated. So Annoying. And it just started out of the blue.
Did you find any permanent solution for this issue ? I am facing the same problem
Yoga 500 screen calibration solved the problem, thx !!
I think you guys have to this right this way; Many of them comes from AC power or other electric wire high frequency electrical ‘NOISE’, that used to exist all around us. One good solution is operate your laptop with touch screen in isolated way(use only battery without any wire connection), then the cost should be disappeared. But you cannot do this all the time because you should plug AC adapter or USB connections as well. This this the solution: Purchase ‘Ferrite core’, that is pretty cheep usually less than a dollar per a piece, according to your cables(AC adopter,… Read more »
Nothing is fixing this for me i don’t have the lg panel, i have the Ideapad Y700 15.6″ gaming laptop it seems like it stopped the bug for a week or so and windows updated last night now it’s back again. I get a small ghost box bottom of my screen with the cursor inside and it ghost touches in this area right mouse clicking and so on. For now i have touch screen hid compliant device disabled in device manager. I was growing fond of the touchscreen feature and i can not for the life of me find a… Read more »
I don’t even have Chrome installed… and still ghost touch problems, plus, by the way, some funny pop-ups of the W10 task-space and what appear to be harddisk access-writes.
see my hashtag above #YogaGhostFix
Just Uninstall or update google chrome…..this solves everything!!!!
As simple as eating banana!
THANK YOU – to Simeon Nikolov/laptopmedia.com – I bought my Yoga 3 a couple of months ago as my hp Pavillion’s Touch Screen was deemed ‘financially unviable’ to fix by the Tech Guys at PC World (UK). My “old” laptop is otherwise perfectly OK – but I have Multiple Sclerosis which affects sensation and dexterity in my fingers (first MS symptoms JUST as I’d learnt to touchtype..yyyyeah great(!) ) …SO it’s v.useful to have a touch screen… THEN the ‘ghost touches’ began… ANYWAY..the advice and FW update *seem* to have fixed this so,so annoying problem. THANK YOU!!! -From your latest… Read more »
The software patch only works for certain hardware configurations (eg LG screens). Not on my Yoga 14, however. I uninstalled the touchscreen in Devices and have essentially given up touchscreen functionality. That took care of my ghost touches, and the associated random applications launches, document changes or worse.
this is not only a problem in Lenovo, its virtually all brands…it must be a software bug..
I have owned a Lenovo Edge 15 Model name 80K9 for 6 months now. For the past 2 weeks, I have also been having this issue. I am SERIOUSLY considering going to my local Best Buy tomorrow morning after reading this post & comments. I honestly feel like throwing a temper tantrum with Lenovo at this point considering I have a $1000 invested into it, my VERY 1st 2-in-1! Thanks for sharing!
Hello, do you know if there is a similar upgrade for Yoga 900 which SDC454A display?
Does someone find a solution for the same problem in Lenovo Yoga 2 13? I really hate these ghost touches!!
I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 13 and I’m running into the same problem. Were you able to find any fix ?
Is there a solution to the ghost touch problem already that works on touchscreens OTHER than the LG ones on a Yoga 14? In my case, a LEN40A3.
Did you find a solution for LEN40A3? I have a LEN40E2 and haven’t found any fix as yet.
I have returned 3 yoga 700 to best buy within 7 months. They are currently setting up the 4th computer for me. At first they acted like I was crazy, they have tried to fix all of them many times, they keep telling me I bought a bad one but 3 bad ones??? I guess I’m a sucker because they convinced me today to try a 4th computer. I will say best buy/geek squad has tried to be helpful. I just want to buy a computer and the stupid thing to work ?
This has resolved my Ghost touches problem first time so thank you so much.
I was very close to destroying the laptop in the same way as the video below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzb3oKk8Gvs
i think this must be a hardware problem, i still have ghost touches after calibrating correct.
when i turn of the pc and start up again they are always gone, but is a big problem when you want to do something quick.
is all this possible on linux?
I had the same problem with my Yoga 12 under Ubuntu Linux. I was able to eliminate the ghost clicks that only happen when attached to the OneLink Pro Dock by disabling the device “Wacom ISDv4 EC Pen stylus” with the following command:
/usr/bin/xinput list | /bin/grep “Pen stylus” | /bin/sed ‘s/.*id=\([0-9]\+\).*/\1/’ | xargs -i xinput disable {}
Lenovo was unable to fix this problem after returning the device three times.
I done update my LGpanel (lenovo Yoga 700 14″. Now theris’nt ghost touches. Thank to https://support.lenovo.com/tr/tr/documents/ht103512
I have same problem in my new Lenovo yoga 700 14″ un fotunately. How can I update?
Okay, so both Keerthi (18 November 2015 19:28) and Biff (3 December 2015 15:37) suggested uninstalling some software that Lenovo has that is competing with Windows OS software.
Could someone give a detailed on what EXACTLY to uninstall and EXACTLY how to do that. I have some computer skills, but probably just enough to get me into trouble, so a detailed step-by-step tutorial would be GREATLY appreciated.
Why would the customer have to do this calibration, update, fix anything on a brand new laptop??? where is the quality control??? this is absurd!!!
The problem with calibrating is the ghost touches happen while you are trying to do it!
Kenneth krash is it evn working now.. propey.. evn I hav followed steps ?
I was advised by Lenovo to return my Yoga 3 due to regular spurts of phantom touches, which I did. Amazon was kind to accept the return although I had run over the warranty with a couple of days and exchanged it for an identical machine. This new laptop has served me well for about 10 days but just now I had the issue again !!!!!!!!!! So, so frustrating as I depend completely on my laptop for my work. If this is such a big issue why doesn’t lenovo get it sorted? Must cost the company loads in returned products… Read more »
OK, I was experiencing the SAME EXACT issue on my Yoga 3. I just hung up with tech support. While on the phone with them they took control of my computer and went to Settings>About>Device Manager>Mice and Other Pointing Devices. They expanded that menu and Uninstalled everything EXCEPT “Lenovo Pointing Device”. TS stated that the extra drivers were causing a conflict. TS then went to Settings>About>System Info>Advanced System Settings>selected the “Hardware” tab>Device installation settings. They selected the “No, Let me choose what to do” button and then selected the “Never install driver software from windows update” button. They then UNCHECKED… Read more »
did it help?
I have the same problem with tab A3300 GV , how can I calibrate the screen on this device??
To all those who still have this issue, try uninstalling all the Lenovo pre-installed software from “Add or Remove Programs’ except these four: Bluetooth, easycamera, onekey and pointing device. You can even uninstall lenovo wifi as windows can take care of it by itself. The problem I think is Lenovo software competing with Windows for optimizing touch at some level. Not worth it!
I bought my yoga 3 2 days ago, and as soon as I started it, I got ghosting problems. Once I removed the above software, I haven’t noticed any more bugs at all. Hope this helps!
Calibrating made the ghost touches worse on my laptop
I love you really men!!!!! me too I was abut to returning it and then… miracle!!! I owe you so much!!!
This worked perfect ^^^^^^^ thank you so much. Turns out i had a lg display. I was about to return the computer. I got it yesterday and was so frustrated.

There’s a firmware update for the LG Panels.
Perfect, it works very good.
No phanton touchscreen behavior anymore. I too…. owe you so much!!!
Thanks heaps! my Lenovo was doing the ghost touches from 10 times a day up to 10 times an hour! Driving me insane! The update solved the problem 🙂
Disconnect external displays before installing
Thanks from Ukraine, bro!
workd with lenovo yoga 700 too thanks !!!
have been dealing with this ghosting issue a while. Glad to see there is a fix and it appears to have run correctly. Will need a week to determine of problem is truly gone

i have the same issue so much so I had to disable the touch screen and operate as a standard laptop. if there is a solution I would love to get it, i think it may be a heat build put / hardware problem because it seem to work ok for about 1 hour then the ‘ghost’ arrives.
yes Lenovo takes lot of time to solve this annoying problem!!
Thanks for contacting Lenovo about this. Tried calibrating and the ghost touch problem was not resolved on my Yoga 3. According to the Lenovo forum, Lenovo is still working on a solution to this.
