The new HP EliteBook 1040 G4 – specs, features, configurations and prices

Today we want to present you with the most significant features of what the tech giant HP claims to be “the world’s most powerful ultraslim 14-inch diagonal business notebook” – namely HP EliteBook 1040 G4.

When it comes to performance, the configurations come with 7th generation Intel Core processors – you have the option to choose between Intel Core i7-7600U, Intel Core i7-7500U, Intel Core i5-7300U and Intel Core i5-7200U. Each one of them provides great processing power meaning it can cope even with the most demanding tasks. In addition, the available graphics card is Intel HD Graphics 620. As far as storage is concerned, you get up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB SSD depending on the configuration of your choice.

Moving on to the display options, you are presented with a 14-inch IPS panel that comes with either 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) or Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Furthermore, the 6-cell Li-ion battery has a capacity of 67 Wh and according to HP, it can last up to 18 hours. Moreover, the fast charging technology allows the laptop to charge from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes which undoubtedly will come in handy for everyone.

In terms of design, this ultraslim device (only 15.95 mm thick) is made of aluminum and features a 180° hinge, powerful audio and intuitive call management. Moreover, not only is HP EliteBook 1040 G4 thin but it is also light in weight – the scale tips at just 1.35 kg.

The OS options that you are provided with are Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 – both of them should suffice most users’ needs, however, the latter is targeted mostly at businesses. In addition, the connectivity options are pretty decent. You get two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, another two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, HDMI, SD card reader, as well as 3.5 mm combo headphone/mic jack. The specs sheet is complemented by Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2×2) and Bluetooth 4.2.

HP also claims that this is the most most secure and manageable personal computer. Some of the security features you are presented with include Sure Click, SureView and Multi Factor Authenticate. The first one takes care of websites infected with malware or viruses, the second one is an optional integrated privacy screen that protects against visual hacking, while the last one requires users to provide more than one form of authentication – for example fingerprints or PINs and passwords in order to verify identity and access systems or data. Another feature worth mentioning is Sure Start Gen3 that monitors the BIOS, restores it to a custom state and also recovers the platform automatically. And last but certainly not least, the HP Manageability Integration Kit makes it faster and easier to create images and manage hardware, BIOS, and security with the help of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
