日本Dell Precision 16 7680 review – overheating and underdelivering on battery life
In the modern laptop world, there are ordinary notebooks, gaming devices, and then there are workstations. They range from the least expensive thing that will get the job done, to a mini powerhouse that is easily comparable to a desktop system.
Today, we have one such notebook, which is called the Dell Precision 16 7680. It comes with a 16-inch display, and contrary to what we expected, is not that bulky. Oftentimes, when someone needs a powerful machine for work, they settle for a gaming machine, because it is similarly powerful, but comes at a far more convincing price tag.
However, choosing a workstation ensures you get the pro-grade hardware you need to effortlessly run your professional software. After all, there are a bunch of certifications, besides the support guarantees you get.
Definitely, when buying a laptop like the Precision 16 7680, your expectations will be set really high. Provided you won’t be using the machine with an external monitor, you have to pick an option that offers a good color representation. Thus, you get a 1200p IPS unit with an alleged full DCI-P3 coverage, as well as a 4K OLED option that covers the same colors but has more benefits in its pocket.
In addition, you should keep in mind that Dell sells this machine with a 1200p base unit that doesn’t meet many requirements when it comes to color reproduction. However, you can save up a bit if you don’t need precision in terms of color, or you always use the laptop with a dedicated monitor.
The hardware here is really something else. Its 55W HX-series Intel CPUs and the brand-new Ada Lovelace architecture from NVIDIA will (or at least should) make sure that you have no issues running the toughest of projects.

Unfortunately, the latter is the right one, my colleague has made a mistake, and thank you for pointing it out! The Precision 7680 is indeed one of the laptops with the shortest battery life we’ve tested, despite having a decent battery capacity.
