Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 review – serious business device with gaming capabilities and long battery life

Disassembly, Upgrade options, and Maintenance

For removing the bottom plate, you have to undo 8 Torx-head screws. After that, you can pry the panel with a plastic tool.

The battery is an 80Wh model. If you want to take it out, you have to detach the battery connector from the motherboard. Then, you have to undo the 6 Phillips-head screws that are keeping the unit fixed to the base. The model has enough juice for 12 hours and 30 minutes of Web browsing or 10 hours of video playback. Given the potent hardware and the high-resolution display, the result is very good.

The two SODIMMs are protected by a metal shroud. The maximum possible amount of memory is 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM in dual-channel mode. The memory sticks are rated at 5600MHz but they work at 5200MHz.

For storage, there is one 2242 and one 2280 M.2 slot for Gen 4 SSDs. The preinstalled NVMe has a thick thermal pad that is making contact with the metal bottom plate.

The cooling system seems promising. It comprises two fans and three heat pipes shared between the CPU and the GPU. There is a fourth one that is dedicated to the graphics card. We can also see four heat sinks and several heat spreaders.
