Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 review – this is NOT a workstation
Temperatures and comfort, Battery Life
Max CPU load
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

Despite its size advantage, the Thinkpad P16s Gen 1 doesn’t perform much better during long runs than most of the laptops, equipped with the same processor.

Apparently, the ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 appears to be the worst competitor in the graphics segment too. Even the 14-inch iteration of this same machine shows a better clock speed.
Comfort during combined load
What makes matters worse, is that the fan inside the ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 tends to run pretty fast. This creates a lot of noise, but on the bright side, the maximum temperature we measured on the keyboard was only 38°C.
Battery
Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device features a 52.5Wh battery pack. It lasts for 7 hours and 15 minutes of Web browsing, or 6 hours and 9 minutes of video playback.
No sd card reader wtf!?
