Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 (14″, 2023) review – takes on the 14-inch MacBook Pro

Verdict

If we have to be honest, it is really hard to hate the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 (14″, 2023). It is a really well-built product. One that has exceptional performance, good battery life, and is packed with features.

Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 (14″, 2023)’s IPS panel has a pretty high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a high maximum brightness. Its contrast ratio is good, while the lack of PWM usage means that it is pretty comfortable for long periods of use.

When we look at the colors, we see 99% DCI-P3 coverage and 100% sRGB coverage. The color accuracy is great with our Gaming and Web design profile. As you know, this is a 120Hz unit. However, its pixel response times are a bit slow.

There is also a touch-sensitive version, which will feature a glass display cover. This, itself, will make the laptop slightly heavier – 1.59 kg vs the 1.49 kg if you opt for the “regular” model.

Generally, there are two main issues with this machine. First, it only has 16GB of memory. The problem with that is the fact that it can’t be upgraded. So you are pretty much stuck with the only possible choice during purchase.

Next, there is the lack of an SD card tray. On the other hand, the USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, and the USB4 connector, are joined with a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an HDMI connector.

Other than that, you should be pretty happy with this notebook. You can play games, edit photos and videos, or even tackle a 3D project. Its RTX 3050 dGPU should be ready for anything you throw at it.

Yoga brand outside of the US can either be clamshell or convertible. Currently, to distinguish between the two, the Pro (or Slim Pro) moniker applies to the clamshell version like this one, Yoga Pro 7. In the US it’s just Yoga for convertible and Slim for clamshell period – no need for the confusion like elsewhere.

The US is not the centre of the world. If it’s only like that in the US, then too bad for you, but the rest of us have to deal with how it’s being named so these reviews using the global naming schemes is fundamentally correct.

Soldered ram, so what? Almost every laptop out there has soldered rams these days. 16GB is still more than enough. I never use more than 7GB with heavy work. And who needs an SD card reader these days?

You never talked about upgrade options in the upgrade options section! How large of an m.2 disk will it take?
