[Specs and Info] ASUS Vivobook 16X OLED (K3605) – For Creators and Gamers alike

Vivobooks are taking over, to the point where they are covering almost all niches in the laptop market. We’re saying almost because we still haven’t seen a gaming Vivobook. We’ll probably never get to see one, as it would be stepping too much on the toes of the TUF and the ROG laptops. However, that doesn’t mean that Vivobook laptops can’t game, as well as be productive, and the Vivobook 16X OLED is a prime example. It offers several great 16-inch displays, high-powered processors, as well as powerful discrete graphics that allow you to get work done quickly, as well as take a break with a quick round of CS:GO or whatever game you like to play.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the ASUS Vivobook 16X OLED (K3605).

ASUS Vivobook 16X OLED (K3605): Full Specs

Design

On the outside, we see a classic Vivobook design. The lid portion is made of metal, while the rest of the chassis is plastic. While we’re lacking an orange Escape key, the Enter key and the lid are still painted with a Chevron pattern as well as the Vivobook plaque on the back of the lid. On the base, the keyboard has slightly dished keycaps, which are formed in the shape of your fingers, to make typing more comfortable. A backlight for the keyboard is optional, but we recommend getting it since it’s helpful to have when working or using the laptop at nighttime. This is a relatively light laptop for a 16-incher, weighing 1.80 kg and having a profile of 18.9 mm.

For I/O, you get two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, so no Thunderbolt connectivity, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

The display selection includes both a Full HD+ and a 3.2K display, both with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The FHD+ display has an IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, a max brightness of 300 nits, and 100% sRGB coverage. It’s a great panel despite lacking the OLED tech and can be used for a variety of different work, thanks to its color reproduction, as well as play plenty of games with that refresh rate. Of course, you don’t need to play games to feel the smoothness, as just scrolling around and using the device feels snappy and instant. If you really want to experience an OLED panel, the 3.2K unit is for you. Not only does the resolution provide incredibly crispy images, but it also got higher brightness of up to 550 nits as well as wider 100% DCI-P3 coverage, which is the standard for digital cinema. The OLED panel also keeps the 120Hz refresh rate.

Specifications and features

For power, you’ve got 4 CPUs to choose from. The series kicks off with the Core i5-12450H, which has 8 cores and 12 threads. The higher-powered CPUs include the Core i5-12500H, the Core i7-12650H, and the Core i7-12700H. Moving onto the graphics, all CPUs come with an integrated GPU, but you’re also getting a discrete unit so you can take advantage of both. There’s the RTX 2050 and the RTX 3050, which both have 4GB of VRAM. In fact, the GPUs are based on the same GA107 chip, so it has the same number of cores. However, the RTX 3050 does come with higher clock speeds and wattage, so it can deliver more performance with good cooling.
