Design

Compared to the higher-end EliteBooks, this 600-series looks more like a ProBook laptop, with a chassis that’s almost a carbon copy. It comes with an aluminum lid and base, regardless of the form factor. The design features sharp edges and rounded corners, along with a glossy HP logo on the back. On the base, we have a speaker grill which is rather long and spans across the entire base, while the keyboard below has an optional backlight. The smaller EliteBook 645 G10 doesn’t bring a NumPad, while the larger 15.6-inch version has one, so keep that in mind for when you’re buying one. In terms of weight and thickness, the EliteBook is pretty portable in both its forms, weighing way below 2.00 kg, which is great for an office machine.

As for the port selection of the EliteBook 600-series, the 645 and 655 laptops have pretty similar coverage, that’s well thought out, with three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port for the 14-inch machine, and two Type-C ports for the 15.6-inch machine, both of which support Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. There are some optional additions as well, including a SIM card slot and a SmartCard reader.

Display

The laptops have the same display selection, IPS and TN displays. The base configuration comes with an HD TN panel, which has only 250 nits of peak brightness and covers around half of the sRGB color gamut. From there you can upgrade to a Full HD IPS panel, with the same brightness, but pretty much better viewing angles and contrast ratio. IPS is a big upgrade over TN, so don’t hesitate to make the jump. If you have any Creator aspirations, there are two Full HD IPS displays with either 400 or 1000 nits of brightness, as well as 100% sRGB coverage.

Specifications and features

The two laptops offer a lot of Ryzen 7000-series processors, and pretty much all of them are rebranded Zen 3 units from last year. There are the Ryzen 3 7330U, the Ryzen 5 7530U, and the Ryzen 7 7730U, as well as their respective Pro variants. The strange thing about these chips is that they still use the older Radeon Vega integrated graphics, whereas last year’s 6000U-series packed RDNA 2 iGPUs, while the new Zen 4 chips come with RDNA 3 integrated graphics. The two laptops come with plenty of security options, most of which are optional, like the IR scanner that opens the possibility of facial recognition, as well as a fingerprint reader. The new EliteBook 645 and 655 G10 laptops look quite good on paper, and we’re hoping to soon see the Intel versions as well.

Can’t stand why they did not use R7 Zen3+ 7735U. Barcelo processors are already used in the 405 series and the older g9 generation. Why use them also in 605 series ? No need to buy a gen 10 , better a cheaper gen9, they are exactly the same…
