How to open Lenovo Legion Go – disassembly and upgrade options

Step 1: Accessing the Internal Components

  1. Ensure the Lenovo Legion Go is powered off and placed on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches or damage.
  2. Remove the six Phillips-head screws from the console’s bottom.
  3. Use a plastic tool to gently pry the bottom, starting from one of the sides, then work your way around the sides and the front.

Hint: Be cautious during this process to avoid damaging the internal clips or the console casing.

Step 2: Disconnecting the Battery and Antennas

  1. Detach the battery connector to safely begin working on the device.
  2. Remove the NVMe SSD to access and safely disconnect the three antenna wires, one of which is hidden beneath the drive.
  3. Proceed to unplug the three additional connectors; one is located beneath the battery and two on the left side of the cooling system.

Caution: Wear gloves to avoid any potential short-circuiting when handling the battery connector and internal wires.

Step 3: Removing the Cooling System

  1. Unscrew the five Philips-head screws: one for each plastic bumper at the top corners and three above the battery.
  2. Use a plastic lever to detach the bumpers and the shroud.
  3. Remove the two Philips-head screws on the left of the fan, detach the fan connector, and lift the fan away from the chassis.
  4. Undo the screws holding the large metal plate in place on the right side, including the central screw.
  5. Carefully raise the cooling system while holding the heat sink on the left to remove it.

Hint: Handle the cooling system with care to avoid damaging the fins or the heat pipes.
