How to open Lenovo Legion Go – disassembly and upgrade options
Step 1: Accessing the Internal Components
- Ensure the Lenovo Legion Go is powered off and placed on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches or damage.
- Remove the six Phillips-head screws from the console’s bottom.
- Use a plastic tool to gently pry the bottom, starting from one of the sides, then work your way around the sides and the front.
Hint: Be cautious during this process to avoid damaging the internal clips or the console casing.
Step 2: Disconnecting the Battery and Antennas
- Detach the battery connector to safely begin working on the device.
- Remove the NVMe SSD to access and safely disconnect the three antenna wires, one of which is hidden beneath the drive.
- Proceed to unplug the three additional connectors; one is located beneath the battery and two on the left side of the cooling system.
Caution: Wear gloves to avoid any potential short-circuiting when handling the battery connector and internal wires.
Step 3: Removing the Cooling System
- Unscrew the five Philips-head screws: one for each plastic bumper at the top corners and three above the battery.
- Use a plastic lever to detach the bumpers and the shroud.
- Remove the two Philips-head screws on the left of the fan, detach the fan connector, and lift the fan away from the chassis.
- Undo the screws holding the large metal plate in place on the right side, including the central screw.
- Carefully raise the cooling system while holding the heat sink on the left to remove it.
Hint: Handle the cooling system with care to avoid damaging the fins or the heat pipes.
