[Specs and Info] Dynabook Portege X30W-J: Combining portability, security, and power all into one

Dynabook is trying hard to be a serious player in the space. They are pumping out a lot of devices, which broadens their portfolio a lot.

Still, the name is pretty new to consumers, so they would have to offer more than let’s say ASUS or Lenovo, or Acer if they want to capture a good chunk of the market. Their Dynabook Portege X30W-J brings a convertible form factor, with Tiger Lake processors and a portable design.

Today we are giving you a quick look at the Dynabook Portege X30W-J.

Dynabook Portege X30W-J: Full Specs

Design

Being a convertible, Dynabook has gone all out to make it as rigid and as sturdy as possible. They have decided to use magnesium alloy, which is tough and can be cut into thinner sheets, bringing down the overall weight of a laptop. The design itself is pretty standard. We have a flat-shaped lid and base, with round corners and edges. The hinge has a metallic grey finish which stands out against the navy exterior. In terms of weight and height, the laptop stands at 0.98 kg and 17.9 mm, respectively.

Display

We get a single display offering, which has a 13.3-inch diagonal, an IPS display, and FHD resolution. This being a convertible, gives the screen touch support. There is no information on color accuracy or coverage, but we hope that the laptop can be used for color-sensitive work.

Specifications and features

Specs-wise, we have a total of four processors to choose from, all from the Tiger Lake G-series. We start with the Core i5-1135G7 and can go as high as the Core i7-1185G7. In terms of graphics, we have the Iris Xe Graphis G7 with either 80 or 96 Execution Units. The 80EU version is found on the Core i5 chips, while the Core i7 ones get the higher-powered 96EU version.

These integrated graphics are pretty powerful, managing to outshine some discrete offerings from NVIDIA. They can handle gaming, albeit at lower settings and with primarily esports titles. The CPUs are part of the Intel Evo platform, meaning that they have increased stability and security. When you pair that with a fingerprint reader, you get a secure laptop that can be trusted with your information. Along with that, you have a backlit keyboard and Harman/Kardon stereo speakers.
