Apple MacBook Air 15 (Mid-2023) review – the new 15-inch MacBook Air is all you expect it to be

Temperatures and comfort, Battery Life

Max CPU load

In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

Unsurprisingly, with no fans onboard, the MacBook Air 15 (Mid-2023) loses some of its performance in long, continuous loads. The temperature of the CPU reaches 101°C at its high point, while the score at the end of the test comprises 85% of that in the beginning. This is in line with what we saw from the 13-inch MacBook Air (which has 84% of the performance retained), but the values are a bit higher.

Comfort during full load

Obviously, since there are no fans, the laptop remains completely silent, regardless of the load you throw at it. However, during extreme scenarios, we monitored a maximum external temperature of about 45°C in the middle of the keyboard.

Battery

Now, we conduct the battery tests with the screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. Apple was kind enough to provide the exact specification of its battery on its official Web site. Here, we are dealing with a 66.5Wh package, which lasts for 11 hours and 40 minutes of Web browsing, or 10 hours of video playback.
