The design of the laptops has remained the same, with all laptops using aluminum to some extent. The ThinkBook 14 has an aluminum unibody, while its larger brother has an aluminum lid and a plastic body. The weight and height of the laptops also haven’t changed between generations.

There have been some changes in the display selection, with the TN panels that were available on the older devices being gone for good. This leaves a Full HD IPS panel, which has some different variants, including a variant with 100% sRGB coverage, which can be paired nicely with the power of the CPUs that the new laptops offer.

Lastly, the specs are much improved, with TIger Lake replacing Comet Lake. The new processors that you can pick from are part of the vPro platform, offering increased stability and performance. They also come with the Iris Xe Graphics G7, along with one discrete GPU option on the ThinkBook 14: the MX450.
