The Witcher 3 isn’t that new anymore but on the other hand, the game still looks good and it’s one of the most most popular single-player PC games up to date. If we take a look at the visuals, the game looks good even today, especially if you bump every setting to its max state.
Speaking of graphics, you can find a lot of mods that are enhancing the visual quality of the game. In addition, there are many fan-made add-ons that include interesting quests. The Witcher 3 is a well-optimized game and the majority of low-end GPUs can run it at least on Low.
So, let’s check the performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (130W) and RTX 3060 (75W).
GeForce RTX 3060 variants
|GeForce RTX 3060 [130W]||GeForce RTX 3060 [75W]|
|Base Clock (MHz)||1387 (+70%)||817|
|Boost clock (MHz)||up to 1702 (+33%)||1282|
|Memory clock (MHz)||1750 (+19%)||1468|
|Memory size (MB)||6144||6144|
|Memory bus width (bit)||192||192|
|TGP (Total Graphics Power)||130W (+73%)||75W|
Results are from the 3DMark: Fire Strike (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Results are from the Unigine Heaven 3.0 benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Results are from the Unigine Heaven 4.0 benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Gaming tests and gameplay videos (ext. monitor)
|The Witcher 3||Full HD, Low (Check settings)||Full HD, Medium (Check settings)||Full HD, High (Check settings)||Full HD, Ultra (Check settings)|
|GeForce RTX 3060 [130W]||263 fps (+33%)||200 fps (+34%)||173 fps (+37%)||114 fps (+34%)|
|GeForce RTX 3060 [75W]||198 fps||149 fps||126 fps||85 fps|
Now, that’s a big win for the 130W GPU. Yes, the bigger video card is 35% faster on average – these are two different worlds in terms of performance. At least in The Witcher 3, higher frequencies and bigger TGP lead to a significant performance boost. On the other hand, the 75W video card is doing a good job too – 85 FPS on Ultra is (perhaps) enough for most gamers.
