The new Dell Inspiron 15 5579 (15 5000 2-in-1) – specs, features, configurations and prices

We already showed you the Dell Inspiron 5379 and now it’s time for another quick look at the specs and features of one of the new Dell notebooks that we expect to launch next month. This article will be dedicated to the Dell Inspiron 15 5579 which is a 15.6-inch 2-in-1 laptop commonly referred as Dell 15 5000 2-in-1.

If you have read our Dell Inspiron 5379 article then you know most everything about the Inspiron 15 5579. It is basically the same but with a larger 15.6-inch screen. The IPS panel, however, can only be found with Full HD (1920 x 1080p) resolution which is not a surprise as HD (1366 x 768p) will be too low for a 15-inch screen. You can optionally get a panel that supports pen input.

The Inspiron 15 5579 is powered by up to a Core i7 from the latest 8th generation. The Kaby Lake-R ULV chips have four physical cores and Hyper-Threading technology which will greatly improve multithreaded performance. As for the GPU, you are still stuck with the integrated UHD Graphics 620. You can get up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

The dual speakers of the Inspiron 15 5579 are enhanced by Waves MaxxAudio Pro. You also get dual-band Wi-Fi ac for fast wireless network connection. The Inspiron 15 5579 features the same 1MP camera as the Dell Inspiron 5379 and has the option to be equipped with an infrared camera.

The Inspiron 15 5579 also features the same 3-cell 42Wh battery as the Dell Inspiron 5379 but we expect that battery life will be worse due to the larger screen. The starting price will be the same – $749.99 and it will be available on October the 3rd.
