Snapdragon 625 (+Adreno 506) vs Snapdragon 820 (+Adreno 530) vs Snapdragon 801 (+Adreno 330) – performance and benchmark tests
In this comparison, we are going to compare another three chips, developed by Qualcomm – Snapdragon 625, Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 801. Below, we will share information about each of the chips and compare their benchmark results. For this purpose, we are using the smartphones Lenovo P2, ZTE Axon 7 and LG G3, respectively.

Starting off with Snapdragon 625 found in Lenovo P2. It is a 64-bit chip by Qualcomm manufactured through a 14nm technological process. It has eight Cortex-A53 cores, running at clock speeds of up to 2GHz. The processor also includes an X9 modem, providing Cat. 7 LTE connectivity or in other words download speed of up to 300Mbps and up to 150Mbps upload speed. What’s more, Snapdragon 625 also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, the Quick Charge 3.0 technology for fast charging, Full HD screens, up to 24MP cameras and 4K video recording. In addition, the Adreno 506 GPU takes care of the graphics performance.

The next mobile chip by Qualcomm is Snapdragon 820. It can be found in ZTE Axon 7, and this is a 64-bit processor manufactured through a 14nm technological process. It features four Kryo cores – two running at up to 2.15 GHz and other two – at up to 1.6 GHz. The mobile processor boasts LTE Cat 12/13 support with download speed up to 600 Mbps (Cat 12), and upload speed up to 150 Mbps (Cat 13). Furthermore, the specs are supplemented by Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO, support of 4K screens, up to 25MP cameras and 4K video recording. Also available are Quick Charge™ 3.0 and WiPower for quick and wireless charging. Here, the available GPU is Adreno 530.

Last but not least, Snapdragon 801, which is found in LG G3. It has four Krait 400 cores running at up to 2.45GHz and is manufactured through a 28nm technological process. The processor is based on the Krait architecture by Qualcomm. Compared to other Snapdragon 800 chips, the 801 offers higher CPU and GPU clock rates as well as eMMC 5.0 support.
