GeForce GTX 1080 vs GTX 980 – a difference of almost 60 fps in the Unigine Heaven benchmark

Finally! The time has come for us to conduct several tests of MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming at stock frequencies. As you may guess from the title of this article, we used the famous benchmark Unigine Heaven 3.0. In our review of ASRock Z170 OC Formula we got 4262 points and an average of 169 fps, and we were eager to see the results from GeForce GTX 1080. We used the same settings in the benchmark and the standard frequencies of the MSI model. Here is what we got from Intel Core i7-5820K and GeForce GTX 1080:

As you may see for yourselves, the difference in average fps is almost 60 (the min FPS did not fall below 30), and the scores are 1490 more. We can thus conclude that NVIDIA has done a great job and that the successor of GeForce GTX 980 offers much better and smoother gameplay.
