1. Design and build quality
The laptop uses an industrial design, similar to the ThinkPads of the world. However, we really appreciate it, since it makes for a sturdy machine, which is further assisted by the all-aluminum chassis. The silver exterior has been so far missing in the gaming space, so it’s nice to see manufacturers experimenting in the space. After all, a well-thought-out gamble can pay massive dividends, just look at Lenovo. Firstly, they tried the usual gaming aesthetic, but the market was full of that, so they innovated and started a whole revolution in gaming laptop design.
The lid opens easily with a single hand, and it has a small Predator badge in the upper right corner. Overall the whole laptop is well built and feels very solid in the hand. In terms of weight and height, this is one of the more portable laptops on the market, with a weight of only 1.70 kg and a height of 17.9 mm.
2. Upgradeability
While the upgradeability isn’t on the level of a regular-sized gaming device, it is still decent. The laptop offers a single SODIMM RAM slot and one M.2 PCIe x4 drive.

3. Display quality
The display that Acer selected here can definitely be used by Creators, as it offers way more than just comfortable viewing angles and a very good contrast ratio of 1930:1. The 14-inch Full HD IPS panel has a max brightness of 284 nits in the middle of the screen, 278 nits as an average for the entire display area, and a maximum deviation of 9%, which means that the brightness is even across the entire area of the panel.
Furthermore, the panel covers 98% of the sRGB color gamut.
It also has a standard matching color accuracy when you apply our Design and Gaming profile. The dE value went down to 0.8 from 3.7, which is a big drop. This, when paired with the good color coverage and the even luminance, makes the laptop a definite consideration if you’re looking for a versatile Creator/Gaming laptop.

4. I/O
The I/O on the laptop is definitely shallower than others, but it still has the necessities, such as a Thunderbolt 4 port, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, an HDMI connector, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. A MicroSD card would have been dearly appreciated, especially for the photographers, who could have used it on the regular. Still, cloud transfer is available.

1. Battery life
The battery life isn’t necessarily bad on the Triton 300 SE, it is just that its competitors offer a lot more. The 60Wh unit inside lasts for 8 hours and 35 minutes of Web browsing, and 8 hours and 38 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

I think single channel RAM and one M.2 slot are a big disappointment. It was a big reason I bought the Predator Helios 300 instead of the Triton.
