An absolutely stacked device in terms of hardware, the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED isn’t your standard Vivobook. Powered by the high-performing Alder Lake H-series and the RTX 30-series graphics, there isn’t a thing that the laptop couldn’t handle.

Today we present you with LaptopMedia’s top 5 picks about the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401).

ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401): Full Specs / In-depth Review

3 reasons to BUY the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401)

1. Design and build quality

The Vivobook Pro 14X OLED has a fully aluminum chassis, with next to no branding, except for the plaque on the lid that has an ASUS VivoBook inscription on it. The device is well built, as both the lid and the base are very rigid and show little to no flex at all. The whole laptop has a matte black finish which makes for a stealthy appearance when paired with the minimal design. The whole base has chamfered edges, with a different slightly glossier look. In terms of dimensions, the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED weighs only 1.68 kg and a profile of 17.9 mm.

2. Cooling

The cooling setup inside is quite capable of maintaining a consistently high load. It’s got two heat pipes that cover the CPU and GPU, along with two fans on the left and right sides. All in all, it looks like a miniaturized gaming laptop setup.

Max CPU load

Intel Core i7-12700H (45W TDP)0:02 – 0:10 sec0:15 – 0:30 sec10:00 – 15:00 min
ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401)3.00 GHz @ 2.61 GHz @ 76°C @ 80W2.99 GHz @ 2.59 GHz @ 84°C @ 80W2.60 GHz @ 2.37 GHz @ 72°C @ 60W

The setup takes great care of the Core i7-12700H, with high wattage and clock speeds, while temperatures remain low. Even in prolonged loads, the laptop does very well, so tasks like video rendering can be handled effortlessly.

Real-life gaming

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 TiGPU frequency/ Core temp (after 2 min)GPU frequency/ Core temp (after 30 min)GPU frequency/ Core temp (Max fan)
ASUS Vivobook Pro 14X OLED (N7401)1577 MHz @ 69°C @ 50W1586 MHz @ 66°C @ 50W

The GPU manages to max out its entire 50W power limit while remaining cool. Clock speeds are adequate as well, but what’s, more important, is that they are stable.

Gaming comfort

The base gets a bit warm, while noise from the fans can become audible, especially if you fancy the “Performance” preset.

3. Display

The 14.5-inch 2.8K OLED panel on the front has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, which even gaming laptops have a hard time reaching. As it uses OLED tech, the blacks are very deep, while the viewing angles are very comfortable. It reaches 387 nits while showing full sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage.

The color accuracy doesn’t improve a lot even with our Design and Gaming profile.

The lowest we can get is inside the DCI-P3 color space with a D65 white point, which results in a dE value of 2.2.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
