Max CPU load
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

Well, the ThinkPad P15v Gen 3 does have an issue with temperatures. However, it is still able to run at higher power limit than its 45W TGP.

Interestingly, the Lenovo ThinkPad P15v Gen 3 is able to run its NVIDIA T1200 at 5W higher than the TGP it comes with.
Comfort during combined load
This laptop doesn’t get too loud when it’s under extreme workload conditions. On the other hand, its fan is almost constantly spinning even at idle. As far as external temperature goes, we monitored a maximum value of about 43°C.
Battery
Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. This device features a 68Wh battery pack, it lasts for 9 hours and 46 minutes of Web browsing, or 6 hours of video playback.
It is to be expected as Gen 2 was already running hot on Tiger Lake-H.
The AMD variant of the P15v Gen3 runs cooler than the Intel Gen 3 variant. However, the cooling solution will be taxed if both CPU & discrete graphics are utilised heavily.
