The Core i5-1135G7 was a best seller for 2021, offering snappy performance in many laptops, while also coming at a relatively affordable cost. In 2022, Intel made a big shift with their processors, giving us three TDP tiers: U-series at 15W, P-series at 28W, and H-series at 45W.

However, manufacturers can play with them and squeeze out a lot of performance by increasing the wattage. The Core i5-1240P looks like a great deal P-series CPU with 12 cores. It has the potential to be a best-seller, similar to the Core i5-1135G7.

While the new CPU presents much higher CPU performance, things are awfully similar on the GPU front. However, you’re not getting any of these CPUs for their GPU performance, in which case you’ll want to go for a laptop with the Core i5-1240P. With the combined power of the 12 cores and the good iGPU, the CPU can work well as a mobile productivity rig.
