Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (14, Gen 8) review – top-tier machine with metal build and Mini LED display
Performance: CPU, GPU, Gaming Tests
CPU options
You can choose between three processor variants – Core i5-13505H, Core i7-13705H, and Core i9-13905H. We bought a laptop with an i9 because we want to push the cooling of this machine to its limits.
Results are from the Cinebench R23 CPU test (the higher the score, the better)
Results are from our Photoshop benchmark test (the lower the score, the better)
GPU options
The dGPU options are the following – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 (Laptop, 80W), GeForce RTX 4060 (Laptop, 80W), and GeForce RTX 4070 (Laptop, 80W). Our laptop is configured with an RTX 4060 since it packs enough power for gaming and has 8GB of VRAM.
Results are from the 3DMark: Time Spy (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Results are from the 3DMark: Fire Strike (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Results are from the 3DMark: Wild Life benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Results are from the Unigine Superposition benchmark (higher the score, the better)
Gaming tests
We used the default settings of the X-power mode that overclocks the GPU (+200MHz for the core and +400MHz for the memory).

The profile of this laptop may be thin but the gaming performance of the GPU (GeForce RTX 4060 (Laptop, 80W)) is very good.
Max CPU load
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.
Average P-core frequency; Average E-core frequency; CPU temp.; Package Power
Intel Core i9-13905H (45W TDP) | 0:02 – 0:10 sec | 0:15 – 0:30 sec | 10:00 – 15:00 min |
---|---|---|---|
Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (14”, Gen 8) | 3.79 GHz @ 2.85 GHz @ 81°C @ 100W | 3.76 GHz @ 2.85 GHz @ 92°C @ 99W | 3.33 GHz @ 2.52 GHz @ 78°C @ 72W |
The Core i9-13905H can maintain high P and E core clocks during any kind of heavy usage. In prolonged periods of 100% stress, the CPU temperature is 78°C (that’s good) and the power limit is 72W which is higher than the default value of 45W.

The GeForce RTX 4060 has no problem maintaining the maximum possible TGP of 80W after half an hour of gaming. The core temperature is a bit high while the frequency of 2024 MHz is on the low side. Aside from that, the GPU performance is good.
Comfort during full load
The top fans are averagely loud during heavy loads (in “Performance mode)”. The good news is that the center of the keyboard is getting just warm, not scoring hot. The WASD zone and the palm rest area are pleasantly cool for normal usage. If you prefer to work in a bit more quieter environment, you can select one of the other two presets in exchange for lower performance.
Battery
Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. The 75Wh battery pack of our notebook has enough juice for 7 hours and 9 minutes of Web browsing, or 6 hours and 15 minutes of video playback.
