Inside ASUS VivoBook S15 S533 – disassembly and upgrade options

While the VivoBook S15 S533 is a great piece of machinery, the upgradability is still not on point.

Check out all ASUS VivoBook S15 S533 prices and configurations in our Specs System or read more in our In-Depth review.

    1. Remove the bottom plate

So, there are 10 Torx-head screws preventing you from removing the bottom panel. After you unscrew them, work your way around the panel with a plastic pry tool or a guitar pick.

    2. Battery

    Battery-wise there is a 50Wh unit.

    3. Memory and storage

Sadly, all of the memory here is soldered to the motherboard. You can get the device with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and there are no options for upgrades. However, things sit differently in the storage department. The VivoBook S15 has two M.2 PCIe slots.

    4. Cooling system

Now, let’s take a look at the cooling solution. Here, we see a single but pretty fat heat pipe. It cools both the CPU and the GPU and ends up at a beefy heat sink.

I have the 8gb version. Can I remove it and install a 16gb ram?

Nope, you can’t upgrade the RAM as it is physically soldered to the board, and there is not additional slot. I also have the 8GB version.

Therotically you could but it is extremely risky, WILL void warranty, and may damage your laptop benond repair. You can desolder the ram with digital microscope and soldering iron, then install 4x4GB modules or 4x8GB Modules. While you are at it you can also do the same with the GPU chip & or GPU VRAM
