[Specs, Info, and Prices] HP 14 (14z-em0000) – A very competitive price makes this a worth considering

HP is getting ridiculously good at making affordable laptops. At the lowest end, the 250-series of notebooks offer the essential computing experience, however, it also doesn’t cost a lot. Next on the totem pole is the HP 14, HP 15, and HP 17 laptops, which are part of the same family, being easily identified by their screen sizes. Today we have the HP 14 (14z-em0000), which has AMD Ryzen 7000 U-series processors while being offered for a low price, so it looks very tempting. Let’s see what other qualities the laptop has, which will either make it an even better option or put it a bit down on our pecking order.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the HP 14 (14z-em0000).

The HP 14 (14z-em0000) is available now with a price of $609.99 for the configuration with a Ryzen 5 7530U.

HP 14 (14z-em0000): Full Specs

Design

The laptop doesn’t have premium materials, as it’s made from plastic. However, buying it also means that you’re protecting the environment, at least to some extent, as the device uses recycled plastic for its construction. There are five colors to choose from, including a Jet Black option. The other colors all feature a silver base and bottom panel, with a different lid color, either Natural Silver, Warm Gold, Moonlight Blue, or Diamond White. The black version has a textured finish, while the rest of the color options all try to mimic metal. The laptop comes with a weight of 1.40 kg and has a profile of 17.78 mm.

The port selection of the HP 14 includes two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, all running at 3.2 (Gen. 1) speeds, an HDMI 1.4b port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

There are three display options available. The base configuration offers an HD TN panel with just 250 nits of brightness. We encourage you to skip it and go straight for the second option, the Full HD IPS panel. It has the same brightness, however, IPS panels offer much better viewing angles. The third option also has a Full HD resolution and an IPS panel, however, it reaches a much higher brightness of 400 nits, as well as covers 100% of the sRGB gamut, so it’s totally suitable as a mobile editing rig for photos and videos.

Specifications and features

The laptop is offered with a total of 6 CPUs: the AMD Athlon Silver 7120U and Athlon Gold 7220U kick things off, with 2 and 4 cores, respectively. Next, we have the Ryzen CPUs, which start off with the Ryzen 3 7320U and Ryzen 5 7520U, two Zen 2 processors with 4 cores and 8 threads. The Zen 3 options include Ryzen 5 7530U and the Ryzen 7 7730U, with 6 and 8 cores, respectively. In terms of graphics, the Athlon and Zen 3 CPUs bring the RDNA 2 integrated Radeon 610M, while the Zen 3 SKUs use the Radeon RX Vega 7 and RX Vega 8 for the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7. In terms of upgradeability, the laptop has two SODIMM slots and one M.2 slot.
