3 reasons to BUY the Lenovo Legion Y740 17″

1. Decent build quality

This machine is almost entirely made of aluminum. It weighs 2.80 kg and has a 23 mm profile – not bad for a 17″ gaming machine. You can open the lid with a single hand which is nice.

2. The screen

The screen LP173WFG-SPD2 (LGD05E0) has excellent viewing angles, good contrast ratio – 1200:1 (1080:1 after profiling), and it covers 96% of the sRGB color gamut. The panel doesn’t use PWM to adjust its brightness levels.

3. The I/O

The Lenovo Legion Y740 17″ has a good amount of ports. Let’s check them out. On the backside, there is a USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 1) port, an RJ-45 connector, a USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 2) port, an HDMI connector, and a DisplayPort. On the left – a USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port and a USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 1) port.

2 reasons not to BUY the Lenovo Legion Y740 17″

1. The keyboard

Unfortunately, the keyboard isn’t very comfortable for gaming because of the short key travel and not-so-clicky feedback.

2. Battery life

The battery unit has a decent capacity (76Wh) but the life in it isn’t – 4 hours of Web browsing and 3 hours of video playback.
