SK Hynix Platinum P51 Gen5 SSD Is Lightning Fast With up to 14 GB/sec Read and 12 GB/sec Write Speeds
Is it weird that anytime we say or read SK-something we straight up thing of the Faker and the League team? The thing is that SK is a massive corporation with ties to many industries. Today we’re here to talk about SK Hynix, their semiconductor arm that focuses on RAM and SSD storage.
Their newest SSD is the Platinum P51, which was revealed in March. It’s a high-end consumer SSD, using the PCIe Gen 5 interface and a 238-Layer 3D TCL NAND flash design. Now, though, it will receive a quiet update, thanks to a new Gen 5 controller, increasing its speed even further. The Aries controller pushes the speeds of the SSD up to 14GB/s Read and 12GB/s Write speeds.
The controller is made with AI in mind, as with these speeds it can load AI models as quickly as possible. Paired with a fast system, you can train a pretty powerful AI model for either text or image generation. You can find a bunch of free and open-sourced AI models on Hugging Face, a platform for sharing many different models backed by Google, Amazon, NVIDIA, IBM, Intel, AMD, and more.
