MSI GS75 Stealth 10Sx vs MSI GS75 Stealth – the 17.3″ monster just got more powerful

MSI GS75 Stealth is one of the most powerful and thin 17-inchers on the market. It has superb display options alongside some of the top mobile CPUs and GPUs. The drawback of the super-thin profile is that the laptop is having a hard time while trying to keep the temperatures under control.

But hey, we are in 2020 and there are new CPUs and GPUs on the market. That’s why the MSI GS75 Stealth 10Sx appears on the horizon with updated hardware and a bit thicker profile probably due to the improved cooling solution. With the help of the latter, MSI will try to justify the high expectations when it comes to thermals and noise.

Design: sleek and stylish gaming machine with slightly thicker height

This is the same premium all-aluminum build with thin bezels around the display. The profile is around 2mm thicker than the 2019 device but it’s still one of the few 17-incher that you can take with you outside of your home or office. The weight is slightly increased to 2.40 kg but these are still decent numbers for a big laptop.

Display: 240Hz and 300Hz panels

No matter which panel you’ll choose you can expect smooth gameplay because these two panels have really high refresh rates – 240Hz and 300Hz, respectively. The latter will cost you more than the “normal” panel (which is enough for almost everything) but if you play a lot of CS:GO or other fast-paced games (and your wallet is wide enough) the top panel option will add extra smoothness during gameplay.

Hardware: Comet Lake-H and NVIDIA RTX Super video cards

The MSI GS75 Stealth 10Sx can be picked with some of the most powerful 8-core CPUs on the market like the Intel Core i9-10980HK that has an unlocked multiplier and thanks to the Thermal Velocity Boost Frequency it can boost up to 5.30 GHz. The more budget-friendly Intel Core i7-10750H is available too with its better price/performance ratio and it has 6 cores with HT. If you want to push the FPS as high as possible, you can choose between the Max-Q versions of the RTX 2080 Super and the RTX 2070 Super that have more CUDA cores than their non-Super siblings.

Last but not least, MSI claims that they have implemented an updated and better cooling solution – so it probably will bring the temperatures down, compared to the older device but we have to get our hands on the notebook and check it by ourselves.

Connectivity and ports: a decent I/O selection

The port selection is rich enough for a device like that – a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port with Thunderbolt 3, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort capabilities, another USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port with DisplayPort support, three USB 3.0 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A) ports, an HDMI connector, an SD card reader, an Ethernet port, a mic-in jack, and an audio combo jack.

Storage and other specs: Steelseries RGB keyboard with per-key illumination, two M.2 ports, and 82Wh battery

The highly customizable Steelseries keyboard is a real gem because you can set the illuminations and the colors by your own likings and if you’re not a fan of RGB you can turn off the backlight completely (or it can be set to light up in a single color). MSI has put a big battery with 82Wh capacity that has to power the internals when the laptop isn’t plugged in the electrical network. In terms of storage, there are two NVMe slots (it’s still unclear whether the extra SATA slot is part of the storage options or not). For the wireless connection, you can rely on the Wi-Fi 6 technology.|
