ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600) – Top 5 Pros and Cons

While Intel is definitely leading the charge when it comes to CPU performance, they can’t match AMD’s efficiency and battery life, as their Ryzen CPUs not only last for long but also do very well performance-wise, while on battery.

And if you’re looking for proof, you don’t need to look further than the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600), which comes with the latest Ryzen 6000H-series, a 4K OLED panel and a 65W RTX 3050 Ti. The CPU has NVIDIA Studio drivers, meaning that you get even more software support for Creator apps like Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and more.

Today we’re presenting you with LaptopMedia’s top 5 picks about the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600).

ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600): Full Specs / In-depth Review

3 reasons to BUY the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600)

1. Design and build quality

The laptop comes with excellent build quality, thanks to an aluminum chassis. The design is easy on the eyes, but attractive as well, with an embossed Vivobook plaque on the lid and some colors on the base, as the escape key is painted orange, while some of the keyboard is in a darker shade of grey.

The lid and the base are both resilient, however the latter is much sturdier. Also, in terms of dimensions, with a weight of just 2.00 kg and a profile of 18.9 mm, we feel it’s adequate and even quite good for a 16-inch laptop. Speaking of a painted keyboard, we were delightfully surprised by the key travel and feedback of the unit. The touchpad, or in this case, the DialPad is a special invention, providing you with a rotating input device that can help you swap between brushes, colors, or just whatever you would want.

2. Display quality

In terms of displays, there’s only the OLED option, which has a very high 4K UHD+ resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The panel is amazing, with a peak brightness of 366 nits, and an infinite contrast ratio. It fully covers the sRGB and DCI-P3 gamut.

Our Design and Gaming profile lowers the color accuracy down to 1.5. This is accomplished in the DCI-P3 color space with a D65 white point. Here are the results of our test with both the stock settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

3. Battery life

With a massive 96Wh battery pack and a Ryzen 9 6900HX, the laptop lasts for 16 hours and 29 minutes of Web browsing, or 12 hours and 24 minutes of video playback, which are amazing results, especially considering the high-res display. Now, we conduct the battery tests with the Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.

2 reasons NOT to buy the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600)

1. I/O

The port selection of the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED is a bit of a letdown, as, despite the $1400 price tag, it still uses two USB 2.0 ports, in addition to one Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one USB Type-C 4.0 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

2. Upgradeability

The upgradeability is poor as well, which we wouldn’t expect from a 16-inch laptop. All of the either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5 memory is soldered onto the motherboard, while the storage can be expanded through one M.2 slot for either Gen 3 or Gen 4 SSDs.

Here is our teardown video, which shows how to access the insides of the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600).
