[Specs and Info] HP Chromebook 14 G7 – The Chromebooks keep coming

HP is flooding the market with Chromebooks, which we have mixed opinions about. On one hand, having more options is great, but when they’re from the same manufacturer, it can lead to problems, as one notebook overshadows the rest. And since Chromebooks already use very similar hardware, it usually leads to consumers buying whatever’s cheapest. Today’s Chromebook 14 G7 has efficient processors that will try to squeeze as much from the laptop’s lightweight OS and maximize battery.

HP Chromebook 14 G7: Full Specs

Design

As with most Chromebooks, we see a plastic exterior with what we would call a standard laptop design in 2022. We see sharp edges, and rounded corners. The lid and the bottom panel also have a rubberized part, which has a distinct pattern. In terms of portability, the device weighs 1.54 kg and has a profile of 18.3 mm.

Display

The display selection comes with one TN panel with a resolution of 1366 x 768p. You can also pick a Full HD IPS panel. Both options have 250 nits of brightness, but we would recommend going for the IPS display, as you’re getting better viewing angles and generally better colors as well.

Specifications and features

The laptop comes with the Intel Celeron N4500 and the Celeron N5100. The former has 2 cores while the latter has 4 cores, while both chips have one thread per core, which seems ancient, but Intel is doing that again with their Alder Lake processors, offering the Efficiency cores with only one thread.

The port selection of the Chromebook 14 G7 includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
