[Specs and Info] HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9 – ProBook for the classroom

The ProBook series of HP laptops are very good mid-range offerings for the office and now they’re making their way into the classroom. In the most epic crossover for the month of December, we have the HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9, which is a portable and durable budget offering for schools that want to embrace the internet and technology in their curriculum.

Powered by some very low-powered CPUs from Intel, it’s not recommended for any more demanding work, however, for simple emails and documents, they will serve you well.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9.

HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9: Full Specs

Design

The Fortis laptop has a plastic chassis, with some characteristics that have made it onto every, so-called classroom-oriented device. The lid has a rubberized surface, which easily prevents scratches, while the corners are reinforced on the inside, so drops shouldn’t be as damaging to the insides. For a 14-inch laptop, we have a thickness of 21.9 mm, which is a bit much, but with a thicker chassis, you’re also getting more rigidity. As for weight, the HP ProBook Fortis 14 G9 stops the scales at 1.66 kg, which is alright.

Display

The display selection includes an HD TN panel with a resolution of 1366 x 768p and 250 nits of brightness. There’s also a Full HD IPS panel, which we would recommend, as IPS technology is much better than the older TN, delivering better viewing angles and overall better colors.

Specifications and features

Lastly, in terms of performance, there are three CPUs, a Celeron N4500 with two cores and two threads, along with a Celeron N5100 with four cores and four threads. There’s also a Pentium Silver N6000, also with four cores and four threads, however, with slightly higher clock speeds. Each CPU comes with its own iGPU, however, you can’t really expect anything special from them. You can watch plenty of movies on them, however, anything more and you will see struggles.

The port selection of the ProBook includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4b port, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
