[Specs and Info] Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 3 – We need to know the price

Laptops that are strictly made for schools are a pretty good development, as they can make good use of the older hardware that’s still lying around warehouses. In 2020, as most of the world shut down, tech became a scarce resource, so manufacturers turned to older CPUs that are still serviceable. Today we have the Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 3, which is running the lightweight ChromeOS and utilizes some very efficient Intel processors. They don’t have a lot of power, but little Timmy in his classroom won’t mind it, as long as he can read stuff off the laptop.

Today we’re giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 3.

Lenovo 100e Chromebook Gen 3: Full Specs

Design

The laptop looks outdated, to say the least. The 11.6-inch chassis is entirely made of plastic, which is all well and good, considering the 100e is a low-end machine. There is also some rubber involved in the lid, which creates a bumper for better protection. The laptop has a speckled finish, while the back of the lid has a matte coating, with Lenovo and Chromebook logos. It has a weight of 1.21 kg and a profile of 19.9 mm, which is a lot, considering what we’re working with here.

The sides feature the port selection, which is quite impressive, with two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, an HDMI 1.4b port, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

The 11.6-inch HD TN panel on the front won’t present the best viewing experience, however, it will still get the job done for daily use. It’s got 250 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 400:1, which is a bit low, so dark colors might feel washed and not be as visible. The bezels are chunky but contribute to the durability of the laptop.

Specifications and features

You can pick between the Intel Celeron N4500 and the Intel Pentium N5100. Both CPUs were released in 2021, with 2 cores and 2 threads for the Celeron and 4 cores and 4 threads for the Pentium. Included inside the CPU are Jasper Lake graphics, which you shouldn’t expect a lot out of, however, for watching videos and some play store games, they will be alright. The battery capacity is pretty good, considering the dimensions of the laptop, coming with a 45Wh unit, which supposedly lasts for 11.9 hours inside the Google power load test. The Chromebook runs on LPDDR4x soldered memory that works at 2933 MHz. You can get up to 8GB of it. The storage maxes out at 64GB and is of eMMC 5.1 type. There are no slots for upgrades.
